Bromley House Library, first solo Exhibition- Oct- Dec 2011- part 2

Attic rooms of the Library

Please excuse the vast amount of photographs. It was a large exhibition and these are not even all the pieces that were exhibited :)

The exhibition at Bromley House was an incredible experience and a lot was learnt. I can only hope for more opportunities like this and would like to thank all of those that helped me, all of those that were involved and those that managed to come down the exhibition and show their support.

A BIG THANK YOU :)

Bromley House Library, first solo Exhibition- Oct- Dec 2011- part 1

The beginnings- piecing things together, the experience of working on this project and exhibition alone. Making all final decisions myself and trusting my instinct.

It has been great having a great deal of floor space to organize these big (6 ft) pieces of works.

As well as sharing a studio space with the lovely Merrimaking crew. Nice to have the company (and such great company at that). :o)

The very first solo BENJAFIELD exhibition held in the incredibly beautiful Library that is Bromley House, Nottingham.

Really pleased about this. If anyone is interested in heading down lemme know. I will post up other times that I will be about the place also. Been a bit unwell this week.

Honestly worth taking a look, not just to see my work but mainly to check out the incredible library :)

BENJAFIELD- exhibition at Bromley House

It has been a long while since I last got my blog on, not really any excuse for that.. apart from this. I have been working on a new solo exhibition, which I have finally finished setting up.

Please feel free to come down, say hello and have a look. Though do please ring me or email me before hand as it is appointment only. But I am free to come show you round pretty much any times that the library is open as my working hours are often flexible.

Its not far or hard to find as it is pretty much smack bang in the centre of town (Nottingham). Right by the Bell Inn pub, next to barnardos on Market square.

Hope to see y'all there :)

Secret Garden Party, 2009

I was asked to design and make costumes for 2009 SGP festival for free festival tickets. I decided to make myself and my dear friend Gareth Garden Gnome costumes.

The costumes were made up of large wire woven hats that were dip dyed and made up of honeycombe and pointed draft twill weave structures.
The jackets were made up of a gnome language pattern and woven on the power loom.
I crochet small snakes for to go in my hair and we held home-made fishing rods. Great Stuff!

Stuff of Life Festival, Sherwood, 2011

Exhibiting some of my work at Stuff of Life Festival was great fun. A great day out for the community of Sherwood, Nottingham :) :)

My work is a bit too expensive to sell at this event. But it was great fun and great to get some feedback. I handed out a questionnare at the event to help with some market research for my business course.

The Making and Showing of Sad Clown Self-Portrait

Hey Folks,

Here is a brief overview of my final degree show piece-

Sad Clown Self-Portrait

Sad Clown Self-Portrait. Original Pen and ink, cropped.

Self-Portrait on loom

Kelly Weaving On loom at N.T.U

  •  Final Degree show peice

  • Weaving on Jacquard power loom at the University.

  • For larger peices I would divide the design up into a number of sections/ panels.

  • I then weave off each panel, machine embroider them and stretch each panel onto wooden frames. Hanging each panel next to eachother to create the image.

Final Piece hung at degree show
